Ulysses Sherman Grant, 55, was born on September 22, 1969, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Vernell & Billie Jean (McCarty) Grant. He was preceded in death by his mother; one brother, Vincent Akins and aunt, Sally Ann Hall.

Ulysses was born and raised in Choctaw County all his life and was a graduate of Hugo High School's Class of 1987. His dedication and hard work were evident in his career as a forklift driver for the Kimberly Clark Company in Paris, Texas. Ulysses was an avid sportsman, whether he was engaging in a competitive match of dominoes, hitting a home run in softball or making a swift play in baseball, he was always in his element. Even as a spectator, Ulysses' enthusiasm for basketball was known. Above all else, Ulysses cherished his family, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

Ulysses is survived by his father, Vernell Grant of Hugo, Oklahoma; one son, Pierre Brown of California; one daughter, Meaudda Jackson of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Jayliah Nicole Scales and Jayceon Terrill Jackson; four brothers, Gregory Grant of Hugo, Oklahoma, Denoval Grant of Hugo, Oklahoma, Michael Grant of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and Lamont Pearl of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two sisters, Betestia Shaw of Hugo, Oklahoma and Shekethia Grant of Hugo, Oklahoma, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and a host of other friends and loved ones.
