Sam David Morris went to his heavenly home on November 22, 2025, at the age of 79.

Sam was born on March 12, 1946, in Ringold, Oklahoma, the son of J.C. Morris and Rosie Almida Morris. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ron Morris; and sisters, Lucille Staggs, Jo Ann Sisk, and Peggy Whisenhunt.

Sam was a lifelong resident of McCurtain County. He married his wife, Jean Autrey, on October 27, 1995, and they made their home in Garvin. Sam spent many years behind the wheel as a truck driver, a profession he took great pride in.

Outside of work, Sam was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were not just hobbies for him; they were a way of life. He often shared stories of his adventures, recounting early mornings on the lake and quiet afternoons in the woods. Sam was also a very proud Mason, Chapter 301, located in Valliant. He regularly attended the meetings and spoke very highly of them.

However, the cornerstones of Sam's life were truly his faith and his family. He was a member of the Valliant Church of God and enjoyed learning about the word of God. Family is something that Sam truly cherished and spending time with his loved ones was something he truly enjoyed. Sam will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Sam is survived by his family; wife, Jean Morris of Garvin, OK; sons, David Morris and Jason Morris and wife, Tamara; daughter, Chassidy Morris; stepson, Edgar Bryant and wife, Amanda; stepdaughters, Julie Capps and Kimberly Goodman and husband, Jonas; brothers, Buddy Morris and wife, Linda and Vic Morris; sisters, Francis Cunningham and Ethel Rushing; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family and loved ones.
