Robert Walter Talley Sr. was born on August 9, 1953 in Coppell, TX to L.A. and Dorothy Joyce (Bradshaw) Talley. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert was a true outdoorsman who loved to coon hunt and fish. He competed on the local and state level in coon hunting competitions. He always enjoyed fishing with his nephew, John Jr. His favorite place to hunt was around Coffee Mill Lake just north of Honey Grove. He often took his son and grandson on coon hunting "adventures" around Coffee Mill Lake. They both have fond memories of chasing coon dogs, cussing at bull nettle and six-strand barbed wire fences, laughing at his endless supply of dirty jokes all night long, and eating breakfast at McKee's the next morning. Robert also enjoyed watching westerns on TV and was an avid Star Trek fan. However, the thing that Robert enjoyed most was being able to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchild. They were his greatest joy. Robert will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Robert is survived by his son, Robert Walter Talley Jr.; grandchildren, Caleb Talley, Sarah Talley, and Lincoln Talley; great grandchild Emma Talley; brother, John Talley Sr.; sisters, Jean Filer and Sarah Gideon; special friends, Van and Brenda Pearce; along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.

The family would like to thank Honey Grove Nursing Home for the loving care they gave Robert while he was in their care, especially Reese Randolph, Latori Harris, Katie Spethman, Casey Manseau and granddaughter Sarah Talley.
