Rita Mae (Callahan) Sheppard, 74, was born on February 19, 1951, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, the daughter of Cecil Paul Callahan and Jetta Mae (Jackson) Callahan. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Duane Allen Sheppard; brother, Douglas Batch; granddaughter, Brandi Mae Renee Hunt; great granddaughter, Ruby Ann Renee Roberts; and nephew, Jimmy Martin.

Rita married her beloved husband, Duane Sheppard, on March 18, 1986 and they lived many places during their life. They settled in Hugo in 2007 to be closer to their families. Rita worked many different jobs throughout her life but her favorite has always been being a wife, mother, and grandmother. Caring for her family and spending time with them was something that she truly loved.

Rita had many hobbies, she loved crocheting, sewing and quilting. She poured her love into every stitch and loved gifting those pieces to her friends and family. Those are things that her loved ones will cherish forever and her memory will never be forgotten.

Rita is survived by her family; children, Eddie and Cheryl Ball of Soper, OK, Christie and Susan Terry Ball of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Shanna and Nick Cochnauer of Broken Arrow, OK, Cassandra Trantham of Hugo, OK,  Carl and Jessica Priddy of Soper, OK, Chase and Allie Priddy of Hugo, OK, Shane Acker of Hugo, OK, Misty Williams of Oklahoma, Maegan Acker of Oklahoma, Jasmine Ball of Soper, OK, Ariel Shepherd of Antlers, OK, and Amber Starr of Hugo, OK; 22 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Kathy and Larry Booth of Hugo, OK, brothers, Cecil and Cathy Callahan of Chickasha, OK, Chuck and Mary Anderson of Middle Burg; special nurse, Misty Cochran; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
