Richard Earl "Dickey" Spear took his first Heavenly breath on September 21, 2023 at 1:34 AM.

Richard was born on December 5, 1953, in Paris, Texas, the son of Hubert "Bo" Spear and Mary Lou (Lemmond) Spear. He is preceded in death by his parents; son, John Spear and brother, Roger Dale.

Richard was raised in Hugo, Oklahoma and was a member of the community his entire life. He graduated from Hugo High School in 1972 and went on to become a self-employed carpenter and handy man. He was known for his talent of being able to fix just about anything, even naming his business "Spear Painting and Repair". Richard married the love of his life, Kay (Beard) Spear, on December 31, 1980 in Hugo where they raised their children. Richard loved caring for animals. He and Kay even ran a rescue for 15 years where they would travel around the country to deliver animals to their forever homes. In Richard's spare time he enjoyed sitting outside, listening to music, especially Elvis, gardening, and mowing with his new "Bad Boy" mower. He was a busy body, loving to stay active, even with his declining health, that never held him back. However, Richard's greatest joy in life truly was his family. He loved being a husband, father and papa. Even though his passing has left a void in his family's lives, his memory will live on through them.

Richard is survived by his wife Kay Spear; son, Casey Spear and wife, Crystal of Queen Creek, AR; daughters, Amy Lightfoot of Dallas, TX and Melissa Spear of Paris, TX; brothers, Jim Spear and wife, Pat of Independence, MO and Doug Spear of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Keaira, Keanan, Kearcie, MaLeah, Emberleigh, Jeramiah, Elijah, Lauren, Josiah, Haliegh, Mason and Maui, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
