Ray Winton Colgin, 92, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at his home in Hugo, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 24, 1933, in Ozark, Missouri, the son of Lee Glenn Colgin and Ruth Edna (Dickinson) Colgin. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry L. Colgin; sister, Helen R. Foster; his first wife of 27 years, Ellen Jane Schulte.
Ray proudly joined the United States Air Force in 1954. He served for 20 years, and this brought him to tour across the world. Newfoundland, Canadian N.W. territories, Okinawa, Turkey and Germany where just a few places his duties took him. Ray specialized in ground radio and satellite communications and was also an electrics technician for 8 years. He later retired in 1974 from the military and relocated to Trenton, Illinois. There he joined William H. Schulte and Sons trucking and grain business. In 1983, he sold his interest in the trucking business and moved to Fort Worth. There he was employed by General Dynamics as a technical writer for F-16 maintenance manuals. Ray finally officially retired in 1992 and moved to Hugo, Oklahoma.
Beyond his professional careers, Ray was a man of many talents and hobbies. He restored old 1964-1966 mustangs, loved traveling on his Goldwing motorcycle and surfing the web. Above all else, Ray was a loving husband, father and friend to many; he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray is survived by his loving family; wife of 40 years, Donna Jean Colgin; daughter, Deanna Baker of Hugo, OK; bonus sons, Donny Baker of Rowlett, TX and David Baker of Palestine, TX; grandson, Derry Baker; great grandson, Legend Baker; brother in laws, Gary Bolin and wife, Sherrie, Dean Spahr and Carey Jones; special nephew, Duane Caringer; special friends, Bobby Freeman and Robin Simmons; along with numerous other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
