Neil Matthews, 64, was born on July 28, 1958, in Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of A.P. Matthews and Salina (Jackson) Matthews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and step-sister, Lorene Matthews-Raya.

Neil moved to the Hugo area in the early 2000's and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hugo. He was a man of great faith and loved the Lord. Neil loved going to church and volunteering there in his spare time. He also loved deep sea fishing and spending time with his family. Neil was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation and worked for them in his later years. He was named Choctaw Nation Male Senior of the Year for 3 years.  Neal will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Neil is survived by his loving brothers, Herbert Matthews and wife, Darla Winters-Matthews of Hugo, OK, Beau Negrete of Hugo, OK and Hector Matthews and wife, Edemar of Brooklyn, NY; along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.
