Myra June "Bootsie" Smith, a retired cosmetology instructor, housewife and homemaker, as well as a life-long resident of Slim, Oklahoma, entered into eternal rest on September 9, 2022.

Bootsie was born at Slim, Oklahoma on March 4, 1930 to Henry and Ila Weaver. She married Oliver Smith on March 4, 1948. Bootsie and Oliver built their life together in the Slim and Mound Grove Communities, where they raised two children, Gregory Smith and Ginger Manning, both of Valliant, Oklahoma.

As a young girl, Bootsie chose to follow Christ and was a member of the Slim Church of Christ. Throughout her life, she set the example of a true Christian, always showing acts of kindness to those who needed help. In 1973, Bootsie pursued a career in cosmetology and from 1974 to 1993, was owner and instructor of the Schools of Hair Design in Idabel, Hugo and Durant. She retired in 1993. She will be most remembered for her beautiful alto voice, her knowledge of the Bible, her love of flowers, her sense of humor and her love for her family. She enjoyed big family get togethers, holidays, cooking, gardening, attending church, singing, playing with her special cat, Scooter and watching Gunsmoke!

Bootsie is now reunited with her husband of 41 years, Oliver Smith, her parents, Henry and Ila Weaver, two brothers, Aubrey "Son" Weaver and Gene Weaver, as well as a sister, Geraldine Cunningham.

She will live on in the hearts and memories of her son, Gregory Smith and wife Rhonda; her daughter, Ginger Manning and husband Gordon, all of Valliant; granddaughter, Emily Harms and husband Aaron of Denison, Texas; grandsons, Justin Smith and JO Smith of Valliant; great granddaughter, Maggi Smith of Rufe; stepchildren, Alicia and Mike Manning; sister, Maxine McGee of Broken Bow; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a multitude of friends.

Bootsie loved everyone but reserved a special place in her heart for Jim and Irma Staggs, Steve and Jessica Endsley, and Brad and Amy Fuller, who always made sure she had a ride to and from church on Sundays. She loved Peet and J.W. Moran, who kept her fresh in vegetables from their gardens and Peet's close friendship and visits, especially during the last few months.

Gregory and Rhonda, Ginger and Gordon, and Emily and Aaron want to thank Hershey Capps for loving their mama, bringing food for the family and helping with her care. Also, a special thanks to Bootsie's pastor, Steve Endsley and his wife Jessica for bringing communion to her at home and her church family at Slim Church of Christ for their special song services at the house. Thank you to the Wright City Assembly of God Church for the food and prayers. The family want to also thank the hospice nurses who cared for Bootsie and showed her so much love and care during their time with her.

Bootsie Smith was a beautiful soul and will be missed, not only by family, but by all who knew her.
