Minnie "Marvene" (Baird) Starnes, 89, was born on January 26, 1936, in Trinidad, Texas, the daughter of Thomas Augustus and Carmeta Aleta (Hickson) Baird. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donald Ray "Blackie" Starnes; son, Jackie Ray Starnes; grandson, Brandon Scott Wright; brother, Charles Eugene Baird and sisters, Wanda Ruth Gilbert and Jannette Green.

Marvene was born and raised in Texas. She married her beloved late husband, Donald Ray "Blackie" Starnes on July 6th, 1954. Marvene worked as a bookkeeper for the Sears Roebuck Company and then went on to run the Credit Bureau in Monahans, Texas. She and her husband retired to Valliant in the early 1990's. Marvene then became the church clerk for the Valliant Church of God. Church meant very much to Marvene and her faith was constantly on display. She was known to help anyone in need and truly had a soft spot for those down on their luck. Marvene was a very loving wife and mother, and she will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Marvene is survived by her son, Mike Starnes and wife, Martha of Howe, OK; daughter, Patricia Anne Wright of Valliant, OK; grandson, Coleman Hunter Starnes; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
