Johnny W Trantham passed away on September 5, 2023, at Medical City Hospital in Dallas, Texas, after a long illness.

Johhny was born in Casa Grande, AZ, to parents JW & Jean Trantham. JW & Jean later moved the family to Grant, Oklahoma, where the couple lived for the remainder of their years. Johnny grew up with a younger sister (Pamela) and younger brother (Dennis). While Johnny's childhood wasn't easy, he relished the summers where he worked long, hard hours on the family farm, baling hay, picking cotton and blueberries and feeding the family's livestock. He also would fish and hunt whenever the opportunity arose. Johnny attended Grant High School, but it would be in nearby Hugo, OK where he would meet his first wife, Dianne Baze. They would later marry, move to Paris, TX, and have two children: Scot and Haley Trantham. In 1970, Johnny joined the Oklahoma National Guard; he would serve for 6 years. Johnny soon moved his family to Woodbine, TX, owning land there and working for many years as the store manager of The Automotive (eventually converting to Green Light). Johnny was a natural salesman and could talk to any and everyone on any subject; in other words, he never met a stranger. He was a self-taught, "shade-tree" mechanic and would work on his personal, automotive creations whenever he had free time. He once installed a high-performance small block V8 engine into a 1976 Chevy Vega. On one memorable evening in the summer of '77, he gave a ride to his brother-in-law, Gary, in the souped-up Vega. Gary was so shocked by the speed and acceleration that finger nail impressions were left in the passenger console and dash. Over his lifetime, Johnny developed a love and fascination of early American history, primarily the settlement of the American West. Johnny's favorite actors were John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. Johnny would often be found around town wearing his black, gambler-style, Resistol cowboy hat, blue jeans, and dust-popper, button down shirts. After the move to Sherman in the late 80's, Johnny would find success as store manager of the Parts Plus automotive. Johnny and Dianne would separate in 1988 and he would later meet his second wife, Becky Childress, the following year. Becky was a very loving and devoted wife to Johnny. They would settle in Powderly, TX, along with their 2 beloved dogs, Mutt & Jeff. Johnny and Becky would go on to be married for 33 years. Johnny also loved carpentry; as a self-taught carpenter he could build bird houses, bookcases, and large-scale doll houses. Becky, however, would eventually return to the Lord in the spring of 2022. Johnny's loving memory will live on forever in the family and friends he leaves behind.

Johnny is survived by his son, Scot (Robyn), daughter Haley (John), Becky's son James, brother Dennis (Ellen), sister Pamela, and grandchildren: Morgan, Madison, Michael, Mallory, Olyvia, Joshua, and three great grandchildren.
