Virginia Ann "Jean" Hintze was born in Logansport, Indiana, on August 20, 1934, the daughter of Walter Gerlat and Helen Gordon Gerlat. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Howard C. Hintze; daughter, Gail Hintze Pavelka; sister and brother-in-law, Mildred and John Small.

Jean married the love of her life, Howard C. Hintze in September 1960, in Chicago, Illinois. They moved to Hugo, Oklahoma in 1969 and put down roots in the area to raise their family. Jean worked as a baker at McCuistion Regional Medical Center in Paris, Texas, from 1979 until her retirement. She had a passion for reading and was known for telling it like it is and you always knew where you stood with her. Jean loved for people to come visit her but when she was ready for you to leave, she would say "turn the light off on the way out". Jean was truly a Yankee through and through. Her nickname was, "Mean Jean" but only Dr. Mike could get away with calling her that. She loved Dr. Mike and her Baptist Village Family, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Lori Henry and husband Leland of Hugo, OK and Karen Cochran of Hugo, OK; grandchildren, Cody Nichols, Courtney Miller, Matt Foster, Sierra Green, Kady Day, Kelli Howell, Colton Henry, Case Setzer, Hunter Freeman and Ellsworth Corbett; great-grandchildren, Jaycie, Jordyn, Joslyn, James, Bailey, Remington, Easton, Riggins, Everette, Logan, Carter, Joseph, Raeli, Rhyann, Jacob, Abby, and Haylie; as well as a host of friends, family, and loved ones.
