Margaret Jane (Jefferson) Allensworth, known as Janie or Mrs. A. was born in Wright City, Oklahoma, on September 8, 1946. She graduated from Wright City Public Schools in 1964. She was married on August 24, 1963, to Hoby Allensworth. She considered being a wife and mother her first calling from God, but as the children got older, she felt the calling to teach.

She attended Southeastern Oklahoma State University and obtained a Bachelor of Education and Master of Special Education. She taught at the following schools: Rattan Public Schools, Tulsa Public Schools, and Valliant Public Schools.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Christy and Faye Jefferson; her brothers, Chris, John, and Joe Jefferson; her sister, Norma Jefferson; her sister-in-law, Theresa Jefferson; her brother-in-law George Sims; her grandchildren, Gary, Eric, and Travis Cunningham; and Justus Holliday.

She is survived by her daughter, Deanna Jewell of Alaska; her daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Alpha Benson of Tulsa; her son Dameon Allensworth and Britta Thrift of Oklahoma City; and her son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kim Allensworth of Rufe. Janie loved her grandchildren Derek Cunningham, Kaelyn and Cole Bridges and great-grandchildren children Parker and Blair Bridges, Chris Benson, Evan Herbling and Faye Benson, Korie Allensworth, Brinlee and John Bachelor, John Benson and Kaylen Bolden, Bayler Allensworth, and Foster Thrift. Janie is survived by her childhood heart sister, Sherry Brown and special sister-in-law Stella Jefferson, Alice Allensworth, Cindy Rard, Jeanie Sims, Jurlene Jackson, and her nieces and nephews.
