Janice (Matthews) McClain, 73, passed on from this life on July 22, 2026, in McKinney, Texas. She was born on July 23, 1952, in Burley, Idaho, to Gene Frank Matthews and Mary Ellen (Hathaway) Matthews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Janice grew up in California and was a graduate of La Quinta High School in Westminster, California and later moved to the Hugo, Oklahoma where she resided most of her life. She was employed with Walmart for over 30 years and made many lifelong friends through her work. Janice was an amazing seamstress. She loved crocheting and quilting; took pride in creating beautiful pieces that were made with time, care and heart. Sewing was one of the many ways Janice expressed her creativity, and she enjoyed making things for her loved ones that will be treasured for generations to come. She also enjoyed canning; a tradition she valued and taught her children and grandchildren. She was also a part of the Extension Homemakers Club for many years where she learned numerous skills like food preservation, sewing and home improvement. Janice truly enjoyed their meetings and fellowship with other women of the community. Above all else, she was a loving mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many. She will be missed deeply by those who loved her.

Janice's memory will be cherished by her loving family who survives; her children, Sharon Lott and husband, Cary of Blossom, TX; Christina Teague and husband, Dustin of Antlers, OK and James Otis McClain and wife, Kim of Ft. Towson, OK; grandchildren, Dakota Wesley Harrison, Breanna Paige Pope, Harlie Nicole Smith, Jacob Joe Williams, Lindie Sue Williams, Jasper Owen McClain, and Lillian Kate Wright; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Grayson, Hadley, Parker, Lucie Sue, and Rowdy; siblings, Bruce Matthews, Wayne Matthews, Bryan Matthews, JoAnn Vaughn, and Susan Nichol; along with many other family members and friends.
