James Lee Covington, 52, was born on April 7, 1973, in Talihina, Oklahoma, the son of Barney Covington and Wanda (Anderson) Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Floyd and  Jewel Covington and Richard Anderson and Ruthie Lemmond; and brother, Kevin Slauter.

James lived most of his life in Hugo, Oklahoma and was a proud member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma. He loved to fish, hunt and was quite the jokester. James worked many jobs in his life, he worked as a welder, driver, chicken processor and a farmhand. His love for his family and friends ran deep and he was always there for anyone in need.

James is survived by his daughters, Barbara Kahula and husband, Raven, Grace Covington and husband Charles, and Madeline LeeAnn Covington; grandson, Becham; sisters, Tracy Garren, Gale Webb and Diane Slauter along with numerous family members, friends and loved ones.
