Howard Leroy Hunter, 75, was born on January 6, 1949, in Hugo, Oklahoma, the son of Charles Edward "Buck" Hunter and Pauline Ruth (Rogers) Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 53 years, Susan Elizabeth (Hamill) Hunter; brothers, John Douglas Hunter, Harry Doyle Hunter, David Gary Hunter, Jimmie Allen Hunter, Charles Edward Hunter, Billy Gene Hunter, Jerry Wayne Hunter; and sister, Patsy Ruth Thompson.

Howard grew up in Hugo, Oklahoma and was a proud Hugo Buffalo, graduating from Hugo High School in 1967. During his high school career, he was a true leader on and off the football field. Howard was class president for several years and even had the opportunity to play football at the collegiate level. He went on to play at Southeastern Oklahoma State University and that is where he started dating the love of his life, Susan (Hamill) Hunter. They were married on August 2, 1971, in Hugo, Oklahoma and they started their life together. Howard went on to pursue a career in sales and worked for several coffee companies, even owning his own called "Quality Coffee". He was known as the "Coffee Man" for many years.

Howard enjoyed being outdoors in his younger years and one of his favorite things to do was to go fishing with his son, Scott. If he wasn't fishing, he was watching a football game and was a big Dallas Cowboy and OU Football fan. He also enjoyed visiting with family and friends; he always had a good story to tell. However, his greatest joy in life was being a husband and father. Susan and Scott were his world. Howard will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Howard is survived by his loving family, son, Scott Howard Hunter and spouse, Claudia of Garland, TX; sister, Judy Campbell of Hugo, OK; brother-in-law, Mark Hamill of Hugo, OK; sisters-in-law, Frances Harrison of Hugo, OK, Goldie Caldwell of Gatesville, TX, Marion Nix of McAllen, Texas, Barbara Hunter of Hugo, OK, and Sharon Hunter of Hugo, OK; along with a host of nieces, nephews, other family, friends and loved ones.
