Gene Edward Taylor of Soper, Oklahoma passed from this life on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at the age of 66 in Antlers, Oklahoma. He was born on Sunday, August 3,1958 to Kathryn (Garrard) Belvin at Bryan Memorial Hospital in Durant, Oklahoma.

Gene was a lifelong resident of Soper, Oklahoma. He worked in the oil fields in his early life and later became an auto mechanic at Ed Wallace when the business first opened, where he was recognized as one of their top technicians.

Gene loved working with his uncle, R.L. Lee, and was dedicated to looking after him after Aunt Jan passed. He expressed his desire to care for his uncle, but in truth they took care of each other. This was evident to those who knew them, including family and friends. His sister Kimberly, witnessed this firsthand during a visit to Gene's home: "When Uncle R.L. pulled up in his pickup truck and he said, 'I'm coming to check on Gene.' I loved it, I truly believe they took good care of each other".

Gene's hobbies included working on old cars and finding and fixing things of all kinds. Gene also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents J.W. and Jewel Garrard (Grandpa and Granny), mother, Kathryn (Garrard) Belvin, sister Sharon McGarry, and brothers, Wayne and Jerry Goolsby.

He is survived by his son, Bubba Taylor and wife Magan; daughters,  Patricia (Trish) Record and husband Robert, Amy Chase, Genia Keller; grandchildren, Stanton Chase, Hailey Chase, Dustin Chandler, Dakota Hampton, Destiny Hampton, Sara Taylor and James Taylor; 7 great-grandchildren; brothers,  Jimbo Taylor, Tim Belvin and Brandon Belvin; sisters, Kimberly (Belvin) Haskins and husband Robert, and Carol Wintersmith; numerous nieces and nephews as well as many other friends and family that he loved deeply.

Gene will be greatly missed by his family and friends, but we are very thankful that he is now with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
