This 6th generation Texan joined his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 23, 2026 at 88 years of age in Hugo, Oklahoma. Fred was preceded in death by his father Fred Burns and mother, Virginia Goodwin Burns. He is survived by his wife, LaCinda Stanfield Burns. Fred leaves sons, Brian (Melanie), Thomas (Gaye) and John (Stacey). He is also survived by stepchildren, Stewart Stanfield, Colene Fisher, Darla King and Wanda Daniels and brother, Ronald Burns.

Fred spent 46 years in finance and banking. He was a member of numerous professional and civic organizations in San Antonio, Leon Valley and Helotes, Texas. After retirement, Fred moved to the beautiful Ouachita Mountains in Arkansas, then to Hugo, Oklahoma. Fred continued to be involved in the Lord's work and as a hospice volunteer. Staying busy, Fred continued his interest in genealogy, finding himself directly descendant from Myles Standish and Edward Doty, passengers on the Mayflower, and Jesse Grimes, signer of the Texas Declaration of Independence.

Services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Hugo, Oklahoma, with burial at Fairview Cemetery in Bastrop, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, Fred had requested that donations be made to St Jude's Children's Research Hospital or Tunnel to Towers Veterans Village.
