Erma Jean Burchfield, 84, was born on June 23, 1939, in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Lenord Ashton and Franice Benefield. She was preceded in death by her parents; her grandparents that raised her, The Benefield's; brother, Benny Ashton; sons, Billy Wayne Brakebill and Jimmy Brakebill; stepsons, Darren Burchfield, Eddie Burchfield and Mike Burchfield.

Erma was raised in West Texas by her grandparents and in her junior year of high school they moved to Idabel, Oklahoma where she attended Idabel High School. In 1973, she moved to Paris, TX where she worked as a cook at the Mccuistion Regional Medical Center and is where she retired after 23 years. Erma married her loving husband, James Burchfield, on October 30, 1975 and they built their life in Paris. Erma later moved to the Hugo community in 2006 so she could be closer to her family after James's passing in 2002.

Erma was truly a hard worker and would do anything for the people she loved. She was an amazing cook and often showed her love by making meals for her family. She also enjoyed crocheting and working outside in her flower beds, enjoying all of God's creations. Erma was a woman of faith and loved the Lord, she was always saying prayers for her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many, and she will be deeply missed by her loved ones.

Erma is survived by her children, Phillip Burchfield and wife, Tiffanie of Rattan, OK, Debbie Oakes of Hugo, OK and Tammy Brakebill of Paris, TX; stepchildren, Greg Burchfield and wife, Pam of Sawyer, OK and Big Jim Burchfield of Fort Towson, OK; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and a host of other friends, family and loved ones.
