Dorothy Lorene (Abney) Ellis-Hitchcock, 101, was born on November 1, 1924, in Gay, Oklahoma to Dewitt "D.W." Talmadge Abney and Lela Mae (Barnes) Abney. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Jess Ellis; daughter, Helene Bradford; brothers, LeRoy Abney and J.C. Abney and sisters, Evalena Benton, Velma Lou Sangster and Jean Abney.

Dorothy grew up in and around Hugo, Oklahoma, the place she called home. She lived in many different places in her life, but the little town of Hugo was the place she longed for. Dorothy came from a large family of thirteen and had a large family of her own, eleven children, five girls and six boys. As a homemaker, she loved taking care of her family, and she worked hard and sacrificed for them every day. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and singing while she worked. Dorothy was a devoted mother, cherished grandmother, beloved sister and aunt and she will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Dorothy is survived by her sons, Eddie Ellis, David Ellis, James Ellis, Jim Ellis and Roy Ellis; daughters, Rubette Champaine, Betty Fossler, Kelly Clark and Rita Sarafin; 25 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brothers, J.D. Abney, J.R. Abney, Leo Abney, Ed Abney and James Abney; sisters, Lula Hardaway and Janice Boyett, along with numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, friends and loved ones.
