Donald Gene Coffey, 78, was born on November 1, 1943 at his grandparent's home in Garvin, OK to Eugene "Gene" Coffey and wife, Edna Jewell Coffey. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife and mother of his children, Barbara Jean Coffey; daughter-in-law, Sarah Gail Coffey and second wife, Carolyn Corbin.

Donald was a life-long resident of Garvin, OK. He was a graduate of Idabel High School, Class of 1961. Donald went on to graduate from Southeastern State College in Durant, OK with a degree in Business. He taught for four years in Houston, TX before moving back home to Garvin to pursue the career of ranching and rodeo contracting. Donald married Barbara Jean Hicks on August 7, 1970 in Idabel, OK. They were married for 38 years until her passing on December 27, 2008. He was one of the founding members of KACS-PE Cattlemen's Association, an insurance agent for ten years, a veteran of the Oklahoma National Guard for six years and a member of "The Church" in Millerton, OK. Donald retired from the USDA Farm Service Agency. He worked at the Idabel and Hugo livestock sale barns. Donald was well known for the quality bucking stock he owned and raised. He loved hosting and putting on the Sunday Afternoon Buckouts. Donald raised numerous NFR, PBR and IRA bulls and horses, including Skat Kat, Hooter, High Voltage and Fender Bender. He was saved and baptized in 2006, in 43 degree weather, in a water trough with his good friend, Dale Johnson at his son's house. Donald will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donald leaves to cherish his memory, his sons, Charlie John Coffey and wife, Keesha of Garvin, OK, Brent Coffey and wife, Deborah of Millerton, OK; daughter, Kelly Dawn Menasco and husband,  Robert of Bixby, OK; stepson, Vaughn Horton and wife, Tonya of Swink, OK; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; sisters, Marvene Snow and husband, Ernest of Garvin, OK and Lavern Ebert and husband, Allen of Haworth, OK; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; along with a host of other family and friends.
