Frederick “Don” Honeywell, 90, went to his heavenly home on October 9, 2026, passing on from this life at his residence in Valliant, Oklahoma, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 19, 1936, in Valliant, Oklahoma, the son of William Loyd Honeywell and Bertha Lousie (Morrow) Honeywell. Don was preceded in death by his parents; his children, Tonya Brown and Chris Honeywell; grandson, Paden McGough; and his sisters, Earline Rose and Joyce Mussett.
Don was raised for a short time in Valliant, Oklahoma; then with his family, they moved to Sweet Home, Oregon, which is where he attended school. He graduated from Sweet Home High School there in Oregon and later joined the United State Army. During his time in the service, he married the love of his life, Juanita (Hendrix) Honeywell, on December 12, 1958, in Idabel, Oklahoma. After his honorable discharge they returned back to McCurtain County, where they spent the next 69 years building a life of love and laughter.
Don spent more than 30 years with Weyerhaeuser, where he served as a conductor and brakeman for their railroad system. Through decades of steady work, he earned the respect of those who knew him and worked alongside him. Beyond his professional career, he was a true outdoorsman. Don enjoyed running his deer dogs, hunting, camping, and hanging out with his hunting buddies. He appreciated good company, good stories, and the kind of days that were spent outside doing what he enjoyed most. Above all else, Don loved his family and treasured the time he spent with them. Being together with the people he loved brought him great happiness, and those moments became some of the most important parts of his life. Don’s life was a reflection of loyalty, hard work, and love for family and friends. He leaves behind a legacy of devotion and example that will continue to be cherished in the heart of his family forever.
Don is survived by his wife, Juanita Honeywell; daughter, Gaye Tidmore and husband, Jesse; grandchildren, Emily Honeywell-Hankins, Trista Honeywell, Dereck Brown, Cody Brown and wife, Amberly; great grandchildren, M’Kenna, Mya, Madelyn, Kaeleigh, Danni, Brinlee, Tanzlee, Tawnee, Colton and Kinsey; 5 great great grandchildren; brother, Jack Honeywell of Washington; sisters, Faye Bell of Baytown, Texas and Rachell “Pete” Moran and husband, JW of Valliant, OK; honorary grandchildren, Ronnica Brown, Michael Hankins, Daniel Nguyen and Jesse Tidmore; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
