Charlene (Rieves) Hughes, 84, daughter of Aubrey and Elsie (Peden) Rieves was born on March 22, 1939, in Valliant, OK. She is preceded in death by her parents, loving husband, James Bailey "Bunch" Hughes and sister, Dorothy Hester.

Charlene spent most of her life in the Valliant area and was a member of Felker Freewill Baptist Church. She married her best friend, James Hughes on June 29, 1954 in Paris, TX and they made their home in Valliant. Charlene loved to read and tend to her beautiful yard, which was always full of flowers of every sort, roses being her favorite. She also went to beauty school and enjoyed fixing people's hair. More than anything else, Charlene loved being a housewife and loving mother to her children. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Charlene is survived by her daughters, Beverly Thompson and husband, Larry of Valliant, OK and Kathy Strickland and husband, Larry of Millerton, OK; brother, Larry Rieves of Shawnee, OK; grandchildren, Kevin Harrison and Chris Strickland; great grandchildren, Kirstyn Harrison and Kyler Harrison; great-great granddaughter, Emma Harrison; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
