Carolyn Uvonne Rooks, 78, was born on September 30, 1943 in Kossuth, Mississippi to Claude and Lottie (Settlemyers) Newman. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Fagin Lee Newman; sisters, Nadine Johnson and Graple Sue Rochelle.

Carolyn married the love of her life, Ralph Rooks on February 18, 1961 in Kermit, TX. Together, they pastored and evangelized for over fifty years. They pastored the Church of God in Kermit, TX, later moving to Valliant in 1976 and pastoring Mount Zion Church of God. Carolyn and Ralph later founded Word of Faith Outreach Church. She was a member of the International Convention of Faith Churches and Fellowship. Carolyn co-owned and operated Rooks Auto Sales in Valliant with her family. She loved God and her family with all her heart. Carolyn was an amazing cook and baker. She was well known for always smiling and having an encouraging word for people. Carolyn truly had a heart of worship and a desire to see people loved and blessed. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Ralph Rooks of the home; daughters, Jennifer Rooks Jones and husband, Tyler of Valliant, OK and Jessica Murphy and husband, Justin of Brownwood, TX; grandchildren, Jordyn Jones, Jillian Jones, Jonathan Murphy and wife, Amber, and Jason Murphy; great grandchild, Parker Murphy; along with a host of other friends, family and loved ones.
