Carolyn Byrd, 76, was born on June 14, 1948, in Mound Grove, Oklahoma to Iman Scott and Mary Dot (Gamble) Scott. She was preceded in death by her parents and her granddaughter, Katie Hall.

Carolyn, a lifelong resident of McCurtain County, Oklahoma, growing up in Wright City. She married Palmer Byrd, and they built their one and only home on County Line Road.

Carolyn will always be better known as "The MeMe." She was always the one you could rely on to "Tell It Like It Is!" No one ever had to wonder what she was thinking. Carolyn didn't see the need to sugar coat things, and she would tell her family what she thought, even if they didn't want to know. She did that because she loved them and wanted what was best for them.

Carolyn spent numerous hours on the phone, listening to everyone's problems, rarely taking time to mention any of her own. She never complained about all the late-night phone calls or trips she had to take with her family to the doctor's office, unless it was storming, then they were on their own! MeMe always knew what the weather was doing, and if you spent much time at her house, you were sure to spend some time in the cellar.

One of Carolyn's favorite pastimes was spending time going to eat with her sister, Myra but she also loved spending time at home. She stayed busy in her yard with her flowers and often kept her grandchildren.

Carolyn will forever be known as the rock of her family. She was the one to go to when everyone else was too busy. Carolyn was the one everyone could count on to answer her phone and find a way to fix whatever problems they had.

No one will ever know the amount of love and prayers that Carolyn put into each one of her family members. She will be forever cherished and a part of her will remain in their hearts forever, until the day they all meet again.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Palmer Byrd of Valliant, OK; son, Lee Byrd of Valliant, OK; daughter, Pam Fields and husband, Brad of Valliant, OK; grandchildren, Ashlyn Colley and husband, John; Lena Harrel and husband, Jacob; Chasie Byrd, Keegan Lininger and wife, Aaliah; Karson Fields, Canyon Fields, Kylee Byrd and Makenzie Byrd; great grandchildren, Daylon Colley, Jase Harrel, Hadley Harrel, Ellie Morrison, Aceleigh Colley, Kimber Harrel, Ava Harrel, Kaiser Lininger and Jovi Lininger; brother, Bob Scott of Valliant, OK; sister, Myra Glover of Valliant, OK; special friend, Bertha Baxter; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
