Betty (Heddleston) Cooper, 91, went to her heavenly home on May 21, 2026, passing at her residence in Fort Towson, Oklahoma. She was born on August 22, 1934, the daughter of William Robert Heddleston and Mary Magdalene (Huskins) Heddleston. Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cleo "Blue" Clinton Cooper; son, Justin Craig Cooper; grandson, Aaron Cooper; brothers, Frank Heddleston and Charles Heddleston; sister, Doris Cooper, and second husband, Jimmy Provence.

Betty spent most of her life in Choctaw County and was a graduate of Fort Towson High School, Class of 1952. She married her husband, Cleo Cooper on August 16, 1952 and together they raised their three sons, Micheal, Justin and Tracy. In 1963, Betty decided she wanted a better life and enrolled at Southeastern University and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Education. Upon graduation, she took a teaching position at Drumright and taught there for seven years. After the death of her father, Betty and her family returned to Choctaw County. She then started her work for Valliant Public School Jr. High where she taught Science until her retirement in 1994. She later met and married Jimmy Provence in 2007, they enjoyed several years together. Together they attended Faithway Baptist Church and where they dedicated a special church bell in his memory.

Betty was a woman of faith and she loved the Lord. She taught Sunday School classes throughout the years as well as helped fund and organize many church projects. Betty also enjoyed gardening, her many flowers and life on the farm. Betty also was a talented seamstress, loving to gift quilts to her family, knowing that it was a gift that would be cherished and would last for years to come. Above all else, family was a cornerstone of Betty's life. Her children and grandchildren meant the world to her. Bettyleaves behind a legacy of service, compassion, and devotion that will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.

Betty is survived by her family; sons, Michael J. Cooper and wife, Brenda of Joplin, MO and Tracy Cooper and wife, Anita of Fort Towson, OK; grandchildren, Alex Cooper and wife, Jessie, Apryl Bontrager and husband, Gabe, Jaala Niswonger and husband, Jon, Kendall Cooper, Eric Cooper and wife, Ashley; 18 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; brother, Welton Heddleston of Hugo, OK; sister, Yvonne Cooke of Fort Towson, OK; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.

The family wanted to extend their appreciation for Betty's caregivers over the last few years, Glenna, Joyce, Alicia and Karen as well as May's Hospice.
