Aurora Elaine Pitman, 11, of Paris, Texas, was born on April 19, 2013, in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Charles Wesley Pitman and Neva Rose (Day) Pitman. She was preceded in death by her grandfather, Richard Day; papa, Jeff Davis; and two aunts, Onita Pitman and Amber Day.

Aurora's life was centered around her medical care. Born with special needs, she and her family spent much of her life in doctor's offices, therapy centers, and hospitals. Despite what could have been a miserable life, Aurora was a happy child. She is remembered by so many for her big smile and her sass. If you told her she was pretty, you were her friend. She would sneakily try to pull hair, necklaces, glasses, stethoscopes, and anything else she could get her fingers around, followed by the sweetest laugh when you squealed in surprise! She never cried much but when she did, it was usually serious. Doctors discovered that when she was laying sideways in a hospital bed, she was ready to go home. Until that happened, she still needed their care.

Aurora was able to travel; mostly for specialist visits, but still, she had been to more states than some able-bodied people. She enjoyed seeing new things and people; staying home was not for her.

Because of certain health issues, Aurora was not able to stay outside for extended periods of time. When she was able to spend time outside, she enjoyed snow sledding, riding in her bike trailer, swinging, or just taking a walk in her stroller or wheelchair outside (especially on rough terrain). She would get very upset when Mom, Dad, or sisters were worn out before she was. Sometimes her outside activities became a relay event for her family.

She felt the most accomplished when she could walk (with a walker). The sounds she made and the look on her face would let you know that anything it took to get her to do that was worth it.

Aurora touched many lives, the definition of her first and middle names both mean "light." She was a shining light wherever she went. She will be remembered for the obstacles she overcame and the pure joy that she had.

She is survived by her parents, Charles and Neva Pitman of the home; sisters, Melanie Pitman and Olivia Pitman; maternal grandmother, Camilla Day of Rattan, OK; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Pitman of Watson, OK; and cousin, Landon Parker of Grant, OK; along with a host of other family, friends and loved ones.
