Annie Jean (Armstrong) Perry was born on December 7, 1938, in Arthur City, Texas, to Opal (Starks) Armstrong Bailey and Charles Edward Armstrong. She passed away on August 28, 2026, at Heritage House Nursing Home after a long journey with dementia. She was 87 years old.

Annie Jean was also blessed with the love and guidance of her stepfather, Lawrence Bailey. She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather; her husband, Lawrence Perry; her son, Richard Perry; her sister, Barbara Bailey; her brother, L.B. Bailey; her grandson, Amaney Jackson; her niece, Hazel Ray; and her nephew, Michael Ray.

Annie Jean and her husband, Lawrence, raised five children together. She leaves to cherish her memory her children, Jean (Ron) Davis of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Mary Huff of Paris, Texas; Curtis (Amanda) Perry of Hugo, Oklahoma; and Jessica Levingston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Perry, widow of her son Richard Perry; her sister, Eddie Marie Ray; 16 grandchildren, including Curtarius Perry and Kie'Aira Perry, both of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, who held a special place in her heart; 35 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and loved ones.

After attending Booker T. Washington High School, Annie Jean spent much of her life caring for others as a CNA. She attended New Olive Baptist Church, where she found faith, fellowship, and community.

Annie Jean had a sweet and generous spirit and was always willing to help someone in need. She was the kind of person who would give someone the shirt off her back. She enjoyed life's simple pleasures, including sitting on her front porch, talking with neighbors, and enjoying the breeze. To her family, she was simply "Mother," a name that crossed generations and reflected the special place she held in their lives.

Services honoring Annie Jean's life will be held on September 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Christian Life Outreach Ministry, 404 W. Bissell Street, Hugo, Oklahoma 74743. Family, friends, and all whose lives she touched are invited to join the family in remembering and celebrating her life.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Annie Jean's memory to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mother always said, "I'll cross that bridge when I get to it." Well, Mother, you made it to that bridge, and you crossed it. We weren't ready to let you go, but we know this isn't goodbye forever. We'll meet you on the other side.
